FOOD AND FEEDING

The puppy feed we use for all our puppies is Iams Mini Chunk and Bill Jacks. If you change the puppy feed to a different brand, mix half and half so it is a gradual change and your puppy's digestive system will adapt to the new feed.

If the puppy refuses to eat, mix a little water with the food so it is soft. Your puppy will be eating dry food from the age of 8 weeks.

Have food and fresh water available to the Yorkie at all times.

REST AND RECREATION

It is very important for your puppy to get six hours of rest for every one hour of play. If your Yorkie puppy gets worn down from to much play he may become stressed. Play-time and rest-time may be increased as the dog gets older.

PRECAUTIONS

In case of stress, give your Yorkie puppy a dose of Nutri-Cal (included in pet care package). This is only precautionary and may never become a problem. Many puppies never become this stressed. When in doubt, always give one or two drops.

Hypoglycemia is a common to all toy breeds, normally due to the negligence of the owner. It is very important to provide proper electrolytes and a vitamin supplement such as Nutri-Cal. For the first five days we highly recommend giving your puppy one-to-two drops, twice daily, to aid in the transition period.

At bath time put a drop of mineral oil in each eye to protect the Yorkie's eyes from shampoo and try not to get water inside the ears.

We hope you enjoy your puppy and if you have any questions please email us or call 620-321-5215.
